This series of drawings was done using an axe dipped in ink.

​

I'm interested in drawing as an embodied practice - the idea of being in conversation with the paper, the axe, the ink and the feeling, sound and experience in the moment of its making.

​

I work to improvised music, so the drawings last for the duration of the song and are an improvisation or translation - an expression of that relationship through the body. 

 

 The forms and ‘language' of landscape come instinctively to me and develop in the balance between the marks and the spaces. 

​
